"My first novel, Sanctuary, grew from an idea I had while watching a documentary about street kids living in a subway. One of them was carrying a baby and I began thinking about a world where a primitive culture develops underground, while the world above changes rapidly, making two very different societies. This premise led me on an interesting journey in the 25^th century, with the Centrals and the Thrallians.

With Inheritance, my first adult novel, my intention was to write the kind of story I would like to read myself, and hope that others would also enjoy it. I love stories with strong characters and natural dialogue and I think I've achieved this with Inheritance. Hopefully readers will empathise with Jo and Rachael and feel some of what they are going through. I am currently working on a non-fiction book which explores a 19^th century case in which a mother murdered her three children. This idea evolved from my Honours thesis, and is planned for completion next year.
